Area 9 winter dressage

Back from a cold Summerhouse . The dressage divas did good. Lottie Parkin and Becky Warner were our path finders both doing a nice consistent test, Lottie (arena 1) 62.8% Becky (arena 2) 63.5%.Then Laura Watts and Wendy Lappington both doing a lovely test both getting 70.9% Laura (arena 1) and Wendy (arena 2).  Also competing as individuals were Nicola Brown (arena 1) 66.1% ,  Louise Kelly Ramaer (arena 2) 70.7%, and Hollie Cowley (arena 2) 70.4%. So individual placings went to Wendy 3rd,  Laura 5th,  Louise 7th, and Hollie 9th,  unfortunately rosettes were only upto 6th . Then the afternoon saw the Novice tests start.   First on was Tiffany Lay (arena 1) 62.5% and Hollie Cowley (arena 2) 72.9% , followed by Nicola Allen (arena 1) who did a lovely test, but robbed receiving a really mean  61.9% , followed by Dawn Wilkins (arena 2) 65.2% then poor Terena Gough with Jake, who was doing some buckaroos in the warm up (arena 2) but managed to keep it together scoring 62.9% .Individual placings went to Hollie Cowley coming equal 2nd. Then the waiting game began to see how the teams got on.  There were 27 teams competing within Area 9; so when the Wessex Gold Team comprising of Wendy Lappington, Laura Watts, Tiffany Lay and Hollie Cowley came a fantastic 2nd, and qualifing for the championship held at Arena UK, it was a massive woohoo!!!!!!!  I thoroughly enjoyed my virgin experience of being chef du quip for dressage,  I hope Janet Stares is back up and running soon .  Love Sue Allen xx

WGRC hunter trial results

Thank you to all of those who helped and competed at the WGRC hunter trial today. Thank you to Rabson Manor, who once again supported the club by allowing us to use their lovely facilities, as well as the great support they give in making sure everything is prepared, which takes out a lot of work needed. The results are detailed below. There is one change since the results on the day, which on discussions with the start controller were rectified, so Class one shows two winners, the one awarded on the day, and the placings given, plus the actual winner, showing the correct faults.

It was great to see so many WGRC members doing so well, especially our juniors.

WGRC show jumpers clean up at the Area 9 trials

The WGRC juniors are flying high at the moment, having won the Area 9 Show jumping qualifier at Leyland Court. The team consisting of Ben Newman, Morgan Kent, Sophie Barnes and Rebecca Cockleton, jumped their socks off to finish after two rounds on a score of 4 faults. The team have qualified for the National Championships at Lincoln at the beginning of September. Team trainer, Johnathan Bowman was thrilled with the result saying “for such a new team, they all supported each other and that confidence brought the result we worked for”.

Morgan Kent also won the unaffilted section of the Jumping with Style at 85cms, on his lovely grey pony Levi.

The Seniors also collected a collection of rosettes. The 70cms team (Lottie Parkin, Lizzie O Connell, Sally Snowden and Jo Manning) took first place in the unaffiliated section. This is a new class added to BRC and it proved to be a great stepping stone for new horses and riders. The 80cms Team (Steph Swadden, Alex Solan, Jeannette Wright and Becky Warner) took 3rd place in the BRC qualifer, which was a great result for this team who have put the work in and reaped the rewards.

Tara Plaister and her new horse Cortynan Vivendi Girl rode a fantastic triple clear to win the 90cms individual in the non qualifier.IMG_7249

WGRC horse trials success

IMG_7425Ben Newman who won the Junior Individual 80cms Horse trials at the Area 9 qualifier at West Wilts in July, went on to win at the National Championships, held at Swalcliffe. Ben and his horse Midnight did an excellent dressage test to score 28.5, before jumping a fabulous double clear, adding only 0.8 time faults cross country.

The Area competition saw Morgan Kent collect an individual third placing, having also completed a double clear, with a few speeding points…..

The junior team, which included Sophie and Rebecca collected a 3rd place.

The senior event team, sported the new WGRC colours thanks to Trow Lane Stud. The 80cms team consisted of Jo Manning, Wendy Lapingdon, Becky Warner’s and Kathy Hancox came in sixth, with an individual third for Jo Manning and Llanbabo Liberty.

Lottie Parkin and Abbie Robins both competed as individuals in the 90cms and Abbie and Adrian the second were sixth.

Amy Chapham and Trozulan competed in the 100, and although the pair made light of the cross country the show jump phase was not their friend.
WGRC also took control of the scoring with a team in the office and Phil Howell on the quad.

what a team….

Reading everyone’s posts there’s one word that keeps cropping up and that ‘Proud’, and that’s it … I am proud of everyone who took part, wherever you were placed. The club is a great group of people who are all there for each other, but still have a great time and a laugh. Anyway enough of the back slapping…here’s the highlights of today:
